Bourne HPP is pleased to be partnering with Tegiwa, the UK’s leading specialist Japanese car parts importer and distributor to build their latest specification Honda K20 engine power unit for their Honda NSX, one of the fastest Time Attack machines in the UK. Bourne HPP will also be providing trackside support for this 2020 winning car in an all-out campaign to win the 2022 UK Time Attack Championship.

Chassis

The original road going Honda NSX was designed by a team led by Chief Designer Masahito Nakano and Executive Chief Engineer Shigeru Uehara. It benefitted from advanced aerodynamics and styling inspired by the F-16 fighter jet and input from the late, great Formula One World Champion, Ayrton Senna, during the final stages of the car’s development.

Working with our partners at AIM Technologies and Bosch Motorsport for data analysis equipment the team at Bourne HPP will develop and build a chassis data system including:

  • Aim Tech Evo 5 Logger
  • 4x Tyre temp sensors
  • 4x Tech damper pots
  • 1x Track temp sensor
  • Aim Tech Dash display
  • Bosch ABS system with 4 x wheel speed sensors
  • Life Racing GS-50 GPS sensor

Engine

Using the world-renowned Honda K20 engine as the basis of our powertrain, the Bourne HPP team have made it their mission to produce the most technically advanced version of the beloved power plant.

The standard 2 litre engine will be increased in capacity to a 2.2 litre and all internal components from crankshaft, pistons, and valvetrain will be custom designed and developed in-house at Bourne HPP to achieve maximum power, performance, and reliability.

Once these newly developed components have been rigorously tested and proven under competition conditions for reliability and performance, a selected range will be made available for sale to our other customers from the online store on our website. 

 

Engine/Gearbox Control Electronics

The engine will be mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, utilising the bespoke control strategies of a Life Racing F88 ECU to optimally control both the engine and paddle shift system.

This system features:

  • Closed loop Lambda Control
  • Closed Loop Knock Control
  • ‘Drive-By-Wire’ throttle control using a Bosch Motorsport body
  • Closed loop upshift cut/ down shift blip, and pneumatic solenoid gearbox control
  • 3 Can-bus to link with AIM tech and Bosch Motorsport systems
  • Advanced safety trips and limp mode cut outs
  • 12 position engine calibration switch for multi maps and drivability strategies
